Fort built between 1887 and 1889 to protect La Spezia's Gulf from the naval attacks. Its architecture was therefore conceived in order to make it almost completely invisible from the sea and it was equipped with two 14 metres long and with a 5 km range cannons. In the 1930's the fort was equipped with an antiaircraft gun. In the 50's it was used as a prison; then, after an abandonement period it was transformed into a cultural and an exhibition center and it also used to set up conferences.
