Built in the XI century by the Benedectine monks, the Badia became Camaldolite in the XI century. Works of art by Ghirlandaio, Botticelli and the Giottesque school are kept in here. Moreover, it also had a library rich of manuscripts and incunables. The current building, planned by Leon Battista Alberti, dates back to the XVI century. It was abandoned in 1861 due to the geological instability caused by the advancing of the Balze's front. It has been recently restored and made accessible to the public.
